Cheesecake. Is it cake or pie or something else altogether? Why is it called cheesecake?
I would say it is closer to pie than to cake, though it's obviously got distinctions from both. I think is called cheesecake because cheesepie sounds like a pie filled with cheese, but cheesecake indicates a cheesy cake, which sounds awful. The incongruency of the two things resolves into a sweet dessert that contains cream cheese (not first cheese most people would think of).
